[glow=silver,9,900] I just finished reading The Immortals series by Tamora Pierce. Oh my gosh those were good books. I couldn't put them down. There are very few books that I have problems putting down, Cheney Duvall is one, Hawksong would be another (even after the, um, seventh time). Speaking of Hawksong, I am so happy, it has a sequel and it's coming out this month. My friends also got me into comic books. Meridian, Sigil, and Ruse by CrossGen are awesome. I especially like Sigil and Ruse, I'm a little ticked off at Meridian at the moment. Anyways, what do you like to read, I'm constantly having to find new books to read so I'd love to hear some suggestions. And I'd also love to find others who've liked some of the books I've mentioned.[/glow]

I don't know The Immortals (yet), but the review I read told me it is just the type of books I love! So, next time I am in an English-speaking country, I'll see if I can find them. (Lately, I am bying books like crazy ;D ;D) At the moment, I am reading the Stravaganza novels by Mary Hoffman (City of Masks and City of Stars) and I am hooked! The three trilogies by Robin Hobb are also great, if you like fantasy, you should defenitely give it a try (if you haven't read them yet .

[glow=white,9,900]My favorite books. Hmmm... there are several. Most of my favorites are Fantasy, science-fiction, I like mysteries and some history stuff is really good. 5 stars.
Sherlock Holms- The greatest detective of all time! Can't have mysteries without him. The best story was The Hound of the Baskervilles. I read it in one night, I loved it. If you go buy a book of his stories, get the Original Illustrated Sherlock Holms. I think that's the nme. His stpories were originally published in THe Strand magazone, and that book has all of his stories and their original illustrations from The Strand.
Fantasy:
Anything by Tolkien, or C.S. Lewis.
C.S. Lewis-The Chronicles of Narnia were great, need to read them again.
The Screwtape Letters was awesome. It's like letters from a demon (Screwtape) to his master (Satan) and their correspondence. They talk about his demonic tactics. And The Space Trilogy (having Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength) was wxcellent. It is more sci-fi than fantasy, as is Screwtape. I have other C.S. Lewis stuff too that I haven't read.
J.R.R. Tolkien- I've read LotR 4 times. Loveitloveitloveitloveit... Ok, well anyway, I love everything about it. Except the end. I wish it didn't have to end. After a month of "being" with the characters every day, or a week of being with them for 6 hours every day (however you read it); it's tragic to leave them. Or any character in a series really.
Ella Enchanted- Great book. Not seen the movie yet though. It's nothing like the book, I can tell you that much. From what people have said, and from the commercials, it's different. Read it before watching it. Don't read the other book, Just Ella. Someone wrote it as a sequel, not officially, but in her own mind. It's bad. Ella gets discontented with the palace and the prince, and royal life. Turns out the prince is boring. She runs off with some other guy and the prince falls in love with the sisters, it becomes fashionable to be fat in the royal court. dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb...
I've heard that Anne McCaffrey and her series (Dragon something or other) were really good.
Hawksong- Amelia Atwater-Rhodes; I really liked it. I can't wait for the sequel, Snake Charm. (Isn't that the name, I think it is.)
Shadowmancer- Supposed to be good. Never read it. I read the reviews, said it was awesome. They said that anyone who likes Harry Potter will like this one.
Sci-Fi: The Space Trilogy- Lewis Restraunt at the End of the Universe- dk the author. It's supposed to be really strange.
Ender's Game- Orson Scott Card- It's in the future, and the world is fighting this bug-like alien race. They have resorted to training kids to fight, young minds are more creative in this fight. They don't know when they are actually fighting and when it is a drill. They are using simulators and computers to fight. An awesome book. He originally wrote a short story, but people asked him to rewite it and make it longer, so he did. Sometime I'll post it here. (The short one)
"Religious"- (I hate that word) Left Behind series- Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. (My dad got a letter from him, an invitation to a writer's guild. ) It's great. The adult series isn't any harder than the kids series. Just maybe a bit shorter, and it ivolves kids. Read the adult series first I think. Because in the Kids series they talk to the adults and you get to meet them, or you see them walk by (you wouldn't know it was them unless you read the adult one, and vice versa). In the adult one you see the kids walk by, or you hear mention of them, but you rarely talk to them. But it's a great series. Very thought provoking. It's a bout the rapture, and the end times and prophecy and stuff. They don't really talk much about miracles as I think they should, like healing and stuff, but they do cover mostly everything else.
Mystery: Nancy Drew- good books. Great for younger Children as well.
Hardy Boys- By the same author as Nancy Drew, under a different pen-name. Also very good.
The Boxcar Children- It's a long series. It was my first mystery series and I like it a lot. It's more for kids, but it's good.
Trixi Belden- Another Mystery series that stars a girl as the lead sleuth.
The Bailey School Kids- Series that my sister likes. They have odd names like Leprechauns Don't Play Basketball, and Aliens Don't Wear Braces. THey have a teacher who is a vampire, a sub who is a leprechaun and other silly stuff. It's about a third-grade reading lever, but it is really cute.
Agatha Alquavende- The author is Agatha Alquavende and her books star different detectives. Her main two are Hercule Poirot, and Miss Marple. Poirot is a Belgium man, who is a renowned detective. Miss Marple is an old Maid who is, like all old women in books, gossipy. She notices everything, gossip, small details etc, and she solves the mysteries using her knowledge. In Alquavende's other books there are characters on the story that have to solve the mysteries, and there is no Marple or Poirot in the book. It's not really a series, the stories aren't connected really. They are all murder mysteries, which is why I like them. If someone trys to kill a friend of yours, what do you do? If they survive it you ask them, "Who would want to kill you? Who would gain from your death?" In these stories, the one who can best answer that is the deceased. The best book I think was Ten Little Indians. It was great. Buit reading her books too much can make ou depressed, but you get really good at mysteries.
Other: I like lots of different books too, here are some random, non-categorized ones.
Julie Of the Wolves- by Jean Craighead-George. Great books. Lots of nature, somewhat fantasy. A girl gets lost and is accepted into a pack of wolves. Learns their ways, and noises and gestures etc. THis author also wrote a book about a hawk as well. Can't think of the name now.
Spiderwick- not sure about it, I am going to read it asap.
A Series of Unfortunate Events- Never read it, but I heard it was really good. Also reading it asap.
go to www.pluggedinonline.com for reviews on movies and books. It lists the pro's and con's of a movie. Tells you exactly what is wrong with it. They said ------ 8 times. There was a lot of violence, or there was minimal violence etc. Really great.
I have so many other great books to tell about, but I'll write my reviews and give you the links to the site I post it on. I am thinking about writing my own book reviews sometime. Any books you want me to review? I'll set up a website and post it someday. [/glow]

[glow=silver,9,900] Uh-oh Eowyn, you mention left behind !!!
/me runs around, screaming "Evil books, evil books. I hate Armageddon!!!!"
Needless to say, make sure you have the next book before you finish one.
Hawksong was awesome ;D!!! And Snakecharm will be too. However Atwater-Rhodes other books aren't worth much. She writes well but the way she works the story, let's just say I haven't found the ones I've read to very satisfying (evil endings).
I loved Ella Enchanted!!!! Except it ended . If you haven't guessed already I don't like it when books end. I think the only writer thats ever had an ending that I liked was Lori Wick. I liked Just Ella, I actually thought it was a pretty cool take on the Cinderella story. Can you guess what my problem with it was (Honestly, she didn't even end the thing). Erg, I keep meaning to read Lewis' Space Trilogy.
It's Dragonriders of Pern and I'm starting the series as soon as I can get Dragonsdawn. McCaffrey also wrote the Acorna series, my mom liked both of them. She did say that things get a little, um, weird the Pern series. She says that they get bonded to their dragons and when the Queen dragon (I think that's it) goes to mate, well, you get the picture, there are some parts that I'm gonna skip over.
ACK!!! I just realized there are, 1...2..3, um, 15 days 'til Snakecharm comes out!!! I already pre-ordered it at Borders and Hannah and I are going to go get it as soon as they call us. Eowyn and Leobeth might have to draw straws to see which one of them gets Snakecharm after I've read it, and I might want to read it a second time before I let go of it.
Brother Bear is such a great movie. Gotta go, I have some homework to take care of tomorrow before Comp I. Funfun . [/glow]

Oooo! Have any of you read and thing out of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series? They are sooooooo good! Almost as good at the LOTR series ! I dont know about Harry Potter....I like them, but I dont know...I think that J.K is making Harry more snotty as the books go on. I also think that the last book will end with Harry wakeing up in the closet under the stairs Lol. I also really like a series of books by Michael Hoeye (very cute books).

Let's see.
The enchanted forest series. Problem: She wrote the third one first, then wrote the first two to explain it. Therefore, the 3rd one is different in style then the others. I like the first one best.
Series of Unfortunate Events! Along with Lemony Snicket: Unauthorized Autobiography
Pride and Prejudice
Bloomibility by Sharon Creech. It's the only one I like by her.
Shadow Children series!
All of Terri Blackstock's books!
Jerry Spinelli!
Louis Sachar!
Gordan Korman!
Shannon Kubiak: Divine Dance. It's non-fiction.
Star Wars!
The Princess Bride!(Yes, it actually was a book first. Marille told me about it.)
Who else? I like a ton. If anyone ever needs a recommendation (or a "No, you don't want to read it") ask me!
Happy New Year!

LOTR and HP are my two all time favorite books.
Here's two of my other favorite book series that haven't been mentioned yet.
Animorphs by K A Applegate. Aliens invade and five teenagers and an adalite (horse like alien with four eyes and a tail) fight against them. They are pretty short and easy to read though.
Artemis Fowl. I'm not sure who this is by. A young boy seeks to rob the fairies from their gold. I couldn't put them down when I was reading them.

Artemis Fowl is written by Eoin Colfer, and the books are indeed GREAT!!!! I bought all three at the same time, and read them within a week... Did you translate the codes on the bottom of the pages? I did... (Show me a puzzle and I freak if I can't solve it immediately!)

The Princess Bride, and it even has a sequel, something like Buttercup's Baby or some such title. I love that movie, how'd on friend of mine put it, "it's the best stupid movie".
Oooh, code. I'll have to read Artemis Fowl if it has something on the front to translate.
Hold on, plug your ears. I FINISHED BLACK!!! AH HAHAHAHAHA!!!! After two moths and a day I finished it. Boy is my friend lucky I had the second book. I highly recommend the Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker. Just make sure you have Red on hand when you finish Black. Oh and the Scottish Crown series by Carol Umberger is pretty good too. Although I think there's a forth book that's not out yet. But although the people are connected you aren't going to be tearing your hair out if you don't have the next book (read them in order though). And I just started the immortals series for the second or is it third time. I'm not sure.
Alia Waking is a good book if you like endings where the person is happy with who they are but totally alone.
Oh and i liked the Woman Who Loved Reindeer by Meredith Ann Pierce. It had a pretty good ending. Um, I haven't had much time to read lately so... Oh the Acorna series by Anne McCaffrey is good (or at least what I've read of it).
And does anyone know where i had fing the Order for the Dragonlance series? I don't want to read them out of order and become confused (Not to terribly hard when I only have half of the info I need).

Here are some of my all time favorites most are fantasy, some adventure/ scifi, and a little bit of romance (I own over 50% of the books on this list which just goes to show how much I like them)
Dragon's Bait by Vivian Vande Velde Beauty by Robin Mckinley Crown Duel By Sherwood Smith Court Duel by Sherwood Smith The Last Guardian by Shane Johnson Hawksong by Amilia Atwater-Rhodes Snakecharm by " " (I didn't like as much as hawksong) Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce Trickster's Queen by " " The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner The Queen of Attolia by " " The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine Ella Enchanted by " " The Dimond of the Rockies series by Kristen Heitzmann Anything by Frank Peretti, Bill Myers, Lori Wick, and Gilbert Morris LOTR
Well thats what I can think of off the top of my head I've also read stuff by Ann McCaffery and Mercedes Lackey their both good authors. If you hate any of the above books *shrug* what can I say everyone has different tastes but I will admit some have really basic plot lines...I tend to enjoy a simple book after reading somthing extreamly intense like Three by Ted Dekker
