It doesn't only sound fun, it was fun! I saw all the touristic things, plus the wonderful places tourists don't know! The joys of knowing people who live there!! ;D

In Spain. Madrid is the capital of Spain, but Barcelona is the capital of Catalunya, an almost autonomic area. Or at least they want to be autonomic.

I wondered, do you guys learn the countries and capitals of Europe in school? I never had to learn the states, when I was in high school. Once I knew them all by heart, but now I remember like only 6 or something...

In 6th grade, I was taught them (all but like the smallest of them), but not the capitals. I suppose in Geography we were suppose to learn them, but I don't remember anything from it...
Maybe next year in World Civilizations I might learn more....but for the most part no...Most people I know can't even name all 50 states, let alone place them all....

I remember when we had to learn them for a test, everybody was whispering acronyms and names, while tracing them on an invisible map.. lol

I learned them with a handy song that starts in the NW corner and goes down. (Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, etc.) Works for me.
