We celebrate our queen's birthday. Technically, it is her mother's birthday, but her own is in January, much to cold for celebrations outside So she kept this date (30th April) her son, who will probably be king in a few years, has already promised he'll stick to this day as well. Though it will then be King's day, lol!

not really, no. The weather has been getting better the last few years, but it is at the expense of the Elfstedentocht (Eleven Cities trip), a speed skating competition ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfstedentocht ) . I don't really care for the Tocht. I like my weather nice and warm, thank you very much.

Today was just sticky hot... my hair goes crazy in this weather. And to add even more 'bad luck' to this day: I lost yet another button of my coat. I didn't even put the first one back on and another decided to take his shot at freedom. Unfortunately for him, someone noticed it lying on the ground and gave it back to me.

A while ago, we had 40 days without rain. When it finally started raining, I felt like running outside in the rain just like I did when I was little. Farmers were very happy it finally rained, and so were we because our garden looked like we had painted everything supposed to be green, yellow...

ugh....
Here, we run mostly on sprinkler systems run off secondary water (hasn't been purified, ditch water). In order to get that water (and drinking water), we rely on snow from the mountains. Rain makes a little difference, but mostly we need lots of snow in the mountains to make it through the summer. Although all the lakes and rivers have been pretty full the last two years *knock on wood*. This year I think we are mostly using the excess from last year. There wasn't much snow this winter.

snow.... let me think... Isn't that those white flakes? Nah, just kidding, but it has been years since we had decent snow. The last real snowmen I built are lightyears ago... Maybe it has something to do with the lack of mountains

lol...it's been a while since we had any decent snow at our house. But the mountains help. It's fun to go tubing down them. You can catch some serious air on bumps.
