[glow=silver,3,000] Simplicity has come out with some new LOTR patterns for Halloween and let me tell you, they had to get permission for these. You'll see why in a minute. Personally I'm kinda bummed that they didn't come out with something like this last year since there are no LOTR premieres to go to and my family doesn't celebrate Halloween. Anyways here they are.
Simplicity 4940 This one has a pattern for Arwen's Blood Red Gown, one for Eowyn's Funeral Gown, and one similar to the Eowyn Sheildmaiden Dress that we have yet to see (Go Eowyn and Faramir, YEAH). here's the pic.

Simplicity 4942 This one is for the guys. Their Legolas outfit could use a little personalization, and you would need to change the shape of the dark green part of the jerkin slighty (man is that the ungliest Leggy I have EVER seen, the wig doesn't help either). The other two are a Theoden costume and Elrond's Underrobe(why do I state the obvious, man I'm worse that our blond elf friend). Here's the pic.

Have fun! [/glow]

[glow=white,2,300](I am officially claiming this as my own font style. lol!) Marillë, you once showed me a pettern for capes, cloaks, and hoods. I had the number for it, but I lost it, maybe you could post it here. WHile capes are fairly easy, it's always good to have some guidance when you are starting out.
McCall's Costumes P306 This is not a LotR pattern, but maybe you want to be someone else, or maybe you created a character of your own and you need a costume for them. It has three styles of dresses, a mantle type thing, three different sleeve patterns, and you can interchange some pattern parts. On the picture it shows someone wearing a hot pink dress, I would suggest not using that color unless you are being a fairy princess or a Disney princess.
Here is a link to Éowyn and Arwen Patterns. It has links for several different patterns.
This is my friend's costuming site Blue Sword Clothing. (I met her through the site.) It is one of the greatest costume sites I have fround. Apparently she wears Medieval and period costumes all the time. I don't think she has any of what we would call "normal cloths." Hats off to her! lol!
There is also a Movie Costume Research page. I haven't explored it too much, but it seems to be a good site.
Here's another site of links, Costumers Homestead.
Dark Crystal Clothing is another site. I haven't explored that one either.
Elven Threads looks nice. I found out about it at this site.
And at Tolkien Town they have listings of several patterns. Click on "Standard Costumes" or "Delux Costumes."
Simplicity also has a pattern, #T427. I have seen it called "Fantasy Costume Pattern #1." It's not affiliated with LotR or New Line CInema, but it may give you ideas. It's got a cloak idea there, that may be helpful.
I hope that all my information has helped you. Have fun! And post some pictures of your costumes on the "My Costumes" board. [/glow]
