And are you aware that you keep changing your pictures? Just a few minutes ago, it was Boromir, and now it's Aragorn. Not Acorn. THE Aragorn. Sorry, J. Phule/Acorn/Ice Warrior.

Actually I haven't read the Hobbit yet... but just started it yesterday so I'm on about page 30. Read the trilogy though a couple times and probably more since I go back to it for referrence. Read the Silmarillion & Books of Lost Tales a few times. I spend more time in those for the historical accounts and comparisons to things in regular history.

that is weird..... I read the hobbit at least 5 times and I still have to go on a quest in my library to find a copy of the silmarillion...

You've made it through the Silmarillion and you have never read the Hobbit?! It's funny, back when I was a teenager, which was like centuries ago (1970s actually) I started the Hobbit and got through about 5 or 6 pages, became bored and put it down, never to delve into it until this past week! Yes, I should have read but a tad bit further and it would have picked up! It wasn't until 2003 that I began to read the trilogy and the Sil & BOLT 1 & 2 along with the trilogy. I have now had to put the Hobbit down yet again and spent some time this afternoon in the Sil doing research on Melkors fall, the coming of the Elves, and the departure of the Elves, as well as determining that the Elves were born under Menelmacar, which is Orion. This has significance in some things we are discussing in an Elf group/Elf society that gets pretty deep.
