I could no more pick a favorite Elf that I could a favorite star in the sky. If I had to though it would probably be Legolas. Let's just say that I have a certain loyalty to him from the book .

I would have to say Legolas (from the books). I always thought that the first movie didn't do him justice. The 2nd and 3rd did a bit more.

I know, he had much more engaging part in the books. Although Orli did do I good job, maybe he didn't need a big speaking part, he said alot with his face. I can't see anyone else pulling Leggy off so well.

I liked the Legolas in the books better. He had a bigger part than the Legolas in the movies.

Princess Gia,you say that the first movie didnt do anything good for Legolas. I have to say I totally disagree with you! I really liked Legolas in the first movie, and though I liked him in the 2nd and 3rd he really killed some scenes. Like in Two Towers there is the scene where he is rideing a shield down stares, and in Return of the King that scene where he kills he oliphant (sry sp) and is standing on it. I thought that those two scenes were so dumb and that because of those it was the first movie that did him justice, and not the last two. But thats just me

Sorry, in my last post I wrote "stares" instead of "stairs". Ooops!

Don't worry Aduial, I do that ALL the time.
It's amazing how we can all love the same thing yet have such varied opinions. I absolutely loved the stairs and oliphant scene. When we went to TTT the first time, everyone applauded. Midnight movie crowds are so much fun. One thing that bugged me about Leggy were some of his lines, ya'll know, the Captain Obvious ones. Although as I was watching the ROTK EE scene where he has that "The horses are restless..." line i realized that some of his lines are meant as questions. And other times I think Legolas feels that he needs to clarify things for the puny mortals in the movie and those people in the audience that aren't LOTR freaks and so might not be able to follow along. Of course they could of dispersed some of the Captain Obvious lines throughout the fellowship.
Who agrees with me that Legolas just isn't complete if Gimli's not in the picture?

Lol, he did have a few "duhable" (my new word) lines I think my favorite Legolas scene in in Moria when they are in Balin's (sp?) tomb. I also agree that he isnt quite Legolas without Gimli. The thing I thought was kinda odd about the movies is that they didnt really explain how it is that they become friends. Its just "I hate you, I hate, I hate you, I hate y-BOOM- Friends..." And (for those strange enough not to have read the books, and dont really understand LOTR) that might be confusing...

I know, I love the Lorien scene in the book where the y have that whole "a plague on the stiff-necks of Dwarves/Elves" part. Of course as, I think it was Philipa Boyens, said about Tom Bombadil, just because they didn't show doesn't necessarily mean it didn't happen. THey do pay tribute to that moment in ROTK though.
However if you watch in the movie (this my own personally opinion, you know how opinionated I am) Legolas and Gimli don't really become friends until after Lorien. If you've seen the EE you know the whole part where they're in the boat. I think you see Legolas starting to respect Gimli in that scene, although why he would respect him for falling in love with a married woman is past me. But anyways, that's my theory. DId it make any sense? It's hard to put the strange twist and turns in my mind down like this. Usually it takes three or four rough drafts before my sstories are readable, just ask Eowyn or Elondra.

[glow=white,9,900]To comment on Marillë's stories being unreadable, well, Alutha was in the Beginning but as you read on it became more enjoyable. It needs reworking. I loved Shattered, and I loved DancingElf's story Bliss.
But anyway, I don't think that Gimli fell in love with Galadriel in a romantic sense, but he adored her. Like I love my friends. Marillë and DancingElf are very close to my heart. They are a part of me, and some of their friends are quikly becoming parts of me as well. (There are about 8 of us in our insane LotR circle of friends. We've never gotten together all at once, but if we did, oh my gosh...) But I don't love them like THAT, you know what I mean.
It's also fairly reasonable to start becoming friends with people you've hated. You start out not liking them for some reason. Maybe it's color, age, monetary status, whatever. But as you get to know them you begin to respect them. It wasn't as apparent in the movie how Legolas and Gimli became friends, but it's still there. Going through things brought them together, and they each saw things in the other that they never thought they would have.

You should see my rough drafts. I can hardly read them. A word missing and horrid punctuation. Hey, do you think I should tortue everyone by putting up a part of Shattered, or should I wait until it's almost ready to be released? That'd be great. I would send like five people to the bookstore in a desperate attempt to find out what happens next.

I liked the elven archers the best so my choice was one of the extras, I know they wern't in the book but I thought they were awsome anyways (and I had to chose an option that none have chosen before)

Of course you did! But they are cool. They's a funny story about them: One of the 'crew' decided to make a cameo as an elvin archer. Then Viggo stood right in front of him! He barely made it on screen!

I remember that. It was one of the "big" people on PJ's team. Didn't he have dark hair? the actual guy I mean.
