Okay, just for the record i have decided that double posting is allowable, as long as it adds something relevent to the conversation. And I didn't feel like hitting the modify button . Anyways, hey Elondra and Flight, we were right the Phantom (Eric is his real name) does wear a wig, as well as make up. They sort of show him putting on his wig as he's getting ready to play Don Juan (That was an awful poem BTW). They also show a bunch of wigs, I didn't check to see if there was any make-up there. I will when my brother gets to that point. I had something else I was going to say, but I can't remembe what it was. I'll comeback if I remember it.

[glow=white,2,300]I loved phantom of the Opera. I loved thw music and the movie. The singers weren't the greatest. The Raul guy was good, his family is musical. One of my friends got to sing with his parents who are apparently well known.
As for the other singers, they could have gotten better ones. Christine was too breathy and the Phantom was singing too far back in his throat and making weird faces. (WHich would keep him from singing properly). This is not just my opinion, but also the opinion of a couple of superb music teachers I know, and of some girls who are in various opera programs and have sung at Carnegie Hall in New YOrk. The pahntom didn't even have voice lessons until one month before shooting! If you have to get some unknown actor for an Opera, at least get one who can REALLY sing.
I read that they were going to try and get Charlotte Church (Visit her site here.) for the part of Christine, but they told her to lose some weight and she wouldn't. Good grief.[/glow]

Okay, first of all Eowyn, please don't diss my favorite romance. I know this sounds rude (you know how opinionated I am), and I'm too tired to think how to word this politly (that is so spelled wrong), but I don't care what anyone thinks about Christine's singing. I thought it was awesome, I guess that's the good part about not having any musical background. And actually, Emmy Rossum had been singing since she was little (What I want to know is how she sang with that corset on) However I agree about the Phantom did sing a little, um, strangely. But that fit his his character, alot of what he sang wasn't really meant to be sung, it was meant to be said/shouted/emoted to a tune (that's what I think anyways.
I thought they had the best kiss in any movie ever!!!! I even have to say that their kiss topped Aragorn and Arwen in ROTK (Holy cow, did I just say that?). And I love the way Raoul is holding her in this one part, she looks so safe and secure. I wish I were her.
Hey, you know, you haven't seen Phantom of the Opera until you've seen it in French.
Oh, and Jaywyn, if PotO bothers you, just stay away from this board.

Jaaaaywyyyyn, sooorryyyy, I meant threeeeaaad.
I know it's awesome!!!!!! And it's been keeping my mind of Star Wars, so my sanity is still slightly intact. Hey, what did you think of Raoul? My friends and I have differing opinions about him. (I'm listening to it right now!)
Hey, Eowyn, about what I said before. Um, if it sounds rude or angry I didn't mean for it to be. I'm just tired of hearing you say that every time that I bring up PotO. Especially because then I spend the next hour of so (understatement actually) listening for something that I honestly cannot hear. I mean, I hear it in Eric, but his character isn't really about his ability to sing. It's about the emotion behind the character. And his voice fits the part, it has power and it can be seductive (If Point of No Return isn't seductive, I don't know what is). And being an actor I would rather hear a little roughness in his singing than have to suffer through bad acting. Sarah Brightman can't act very well, I discovered that watching the beind the scenes stuff. And she has this weird habit of staring right into the camera. Don't get me wrong, she has a good voice. Acting wasn't as important when it was on the stage as their voices, and she okay on the stage. But on camera she's, um, disconcerting. Okay, I've bunny trailed and I can't remember what I was going to say. Let me think *a few minutes later* Oh yeah! I can only hear Christine being breathy in a few parts. Once in Think of Me (I think LOL) and a few time in All I Ask of You (but then it fits the emotion, fear, that she is trying to convey). DId any of that make senese? It does to me, but that's because it came from my head.
Oh yeah, why do you have a problem with PotO Jaywyn? Please tell, it's bothering me.

Ditto. ;D
Jaywyn really has nothing against POTO...as she has never seen it...but the songs DO get stuck inside her head and when that happens...she gets EXTREMELY annoyed... ;D
